What Patchdraft is not.
This page exists because everyone in this trade has once bought software that did three quarters of what the box promised. What is missing here is genuinely missing.
No quoting, no project management
Patchdraft draws and documents. It writes no proposals, tracks no project phases, manages no schedules and calculates no margin. If you need that, you are looking for D-Tools or XTEN-AV — and paying 100 to 170 dollars a month for it.
Not a replacement for EPLAN or WSCAD
Electrical CAD is built for control cabinets: terminal diagrams, wire marking, circuit diagrams, manufacturer macros. Patchdraft cannot do that and is not meant to. If you are documenting a cabinet, you are in the right place there.
No complete device coverage
The library holds 1,058 devices with 13,369 ports. That is a lot to start with and little against a market of thousands of models. Your niche device is quite likely missing. You can add your own devices and they stay in your library — complete manufacturer coverage will never exist, and anyone promising it has never maintained one.
No certified standards conformity
Patchdraft is oriented at IEC 61082-1, DIN EN ISO 5457, ISO 13567, IEC 81346 and DIN EN ISO 3098 — sheet grid, cross-references, layers, equipment designations, minimum text size. That is not the same as a verified declaration of conformity, and there is none here. If you need one, you need an assessor, not a drawing tool.
No acoustics, load or rigging calculations
No SPL prediction, no load ratings, no rigging statics, no power distribution maths. Patchdraft knows which connector belongs in which socket — not whether the point will hold it.
The interface is German
This marketing site is bilingual; the drawing interface is not yet. Plans, exports and the symbol library are language-neutral, the controls are not.
The AI can be wrong
On unusual setups it will propose nonsense. That is why every step is editable before it reaches the PDF: Patchdraft proposes, you confirm. And that is why the AI produces only the graph — layout, sheet size, cable routing, title block and numbering are done by deterministic code. Otherwise not a single drawing rule could be guaranteed.
A daily cap, so nobody pays for one runaway
Besides the monthly allowance there is a cap per day: 150 Patch-Tokens on Starter, 300 on Pro, 900 on Studio — multiplied by the number of members in a company. Demo has no separate daily cap (the starting balance caps itself), Enterprise negotiates its own. The cap is not part of the plan, it is an emergency brake against runaway use: a script asking for a thousand drawings overnight costs real money. Normal use never reaches it — a typical plan costs about 55 Patch-Tokens, so even a very long working day won't fill the cap. The next day continues without any action, and the monthly allowance is untouched.
No lock-in
Drawings stay a draw.io diagram in substance (file extension .ptch) and can be downloaded at any time — including after you cancel. Open them in draw.io via "File → Open" rather than a double-click: your operating system doesn't know .ptch as a file type of its own. The PDF is yours anyway.
